The A level Textiles and Fashion course consists of two components, both internally assessed and externally moderated, a thematic practical project and an essay of 1500 – 3000 words which relates to the contextual research within the practical work. Component 2 is externally set and thematically based. There will normally be opportunities to visit galleries and the Stitch and Knit Exhibition.
It is advantageous to be able to work with a sewing machine at home, but it is not essential. It is very important to be equipped with a box of textile tools and materials.

An A level in Textiles and Fashion is excellent preparation for higher education courses in subjects such as Fashion Design, Textiles, Interior Design, Fine Art, Illustration, and Decorative Arts.
